This tradition dates back to the earliest days of settlers, considering that House Blessings invoke spiritual protection and bring peace and prosperity into the new home.
Your ceremony can include burning candles in each room, burning sage to purify and balance, or a special prayer or verse specific to each room. Using four (4) coins was also a tradition invoking prosperity.
The original idea was to recognize the connection between the hearth and the altar, and you will notice this ritual still today…couples getting married in front of an altar or front of their fireplace if the ceremony is in their home.
